Francois Cauvin
Francois Cauvin, a Haitian native, grew up in a family of painters, performance artists, musicians, and poets. A self-taught artist, he began drawing, sculpting and painting at the age of ten. He lived in Montreal for 16 years, recreating on canvas the images that often come to him in his dreams. "Sometimes," he said, "when I paint, I am in a dream state." His paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Canada, the Seychelle Islands, Belgium, Haiti and the United States, Mr. Cauvin now lives in Haiti.
